Everything you need to register, get approved, and support your child's home projects — step by step.
Every child enrolled with Smart Brains Kenya has a unique username. It is made up of a school code (a short 2-letter abbreviation for their school) and your child's name, joined by a dash. It looks like this:
Your child's ICT or Coding teacher gave them a username when they enrolled. Ask your child what it is. If they've forgotten, they should check with their teacher at school.
Ask your child to visit smartbrainskenya.com, click Student Section, and try logging in with their username. If they can log in successfully, the username is correct and you are ready to register.
Note it down carefully — all lowercase letters, no spaces, with a dash in the correct place. For example: os-justineharmon
Open your browser and visit smartbrainskenya.com. At the top right, tap the "Parent Section" button (blue button in the navigation bar).
You will land on the login page. Since you don't have an account yet, tap "Don't have an account? Sign up today!" at the bottom of the screen.
Complete the registration form with the following:
Check the box agreeing to receive WhatsApp updates and the Terms & Conditions, then tap "Create Account" to submit your registration.
Your account is created and is now pending approval.
Contact your child's ICT teacher or Coding patron at school and let them know you have registered. They will approve your account from the school side.
Once approved, you will receive an SMS on your registered WhatsApp number that reads:
Once approved, your child can log in to their student dashboard, go to Home Projects, and request an access code. That code will be sent directly to your WhatsApp number.
If you registered but did not receive your approval SMS or your child's access code, your phone number may be on a promotional messages blacklist. This happens when a number has opted out of promotional SMS — usually by mistake or automatically by the carrier.
Using the phone number you registered with, open your regular phone dialler (the one you use to make calls).
A menu will appear on screen. Follow the prompts to allow all promotional messages.
After re-enabling, please wait approximately 1 hour for the changes to take effect across the network.
After the 1-hour wait, have your child log in to their student dashboard, go to Home Projects, and request a new access code. It should now arrive on your number.
Visit application.smartbrainskenya.com, enter your phone number (without leading zero) and your password, then tap Submit.
At the bottom of your screen you will see Home, Reports, Projects, and Gallery. Tap Projects.
If you have more than one child linked to your account, you will see multiple projects listed. Tap on the project for the child whose work you want to submit.
A project showing "In Progress" is ready to be submitted. "Pending Review" means it has already been submitted and is awaiting the tutor.
You can tap on Feedback to view messages between you and the tutor, or to send a message about your child's project.
Tap the purple "Submit for Tutor Review" button. A confirmation screen will appear — you can optionally add a note to the tutor. Tap "Submit for Review" to confirm.
Once logged in, you'll see an "Add Child" button at the top right of your home screen.
A pop-up will appear asking for the Child Username and your relationship to them. Enter the username (e.g. ds-marywanjiku) and tap "Add Child".
